Floorball
The biggest highlight of this year is my floorball "career", which I could really notice a very drastic improvement as a person both on and off the court. The picture above is taken in January, 1 month after I swapped from being a forward to goalie. I got instilled in the IVP squad as a backup goalie and I only got to play one game. That game wasn't a full game either. We attained a bronze medal for the competition.
After IVP concluded, I continued training hard as I was relatively new to the goalie position. With much guidance from Iman, my mentor, I competed in Singapore's Division 3 Floorball League under NYPenguins, our school's representative team. It was a really great experience for me and my team even though we had a very weird season form. We managed to escape relegation.
Shortly after the Division 3 season concluded, I got scouted into a Division 2 team, Knights FC. Being the youngest player in the team, I had to prove myself worth to be in this team full of talent legends. I have learnt so much from them in the Division 2 season which is still ongoing, from floorball tips and tricks to life "hacks".
With the constant training, my coach decided to put me as the first choice goalie. It was pretty shocking for me, since I had less than a year of experience. As we entered the POL-ITE competition, we had the most inexperienced squad. We had no national players while other schools had at least one. We finished 5th but we gave every school a hard fight. This competition made me some new friends, from national players to random fans at the stands. I was also asked to join the national team trials but I refused due to the amount of commitment I'm trying to juggle. Overall, I would love to improve my standard of playing and develop consistency.
Outside of floorball, I have many things to strike off my bucket list. Buying a GoPro camera, helping a complete stranger, meeting an online friend in person and many more. Also, there are many setbacks but I'd like to take that as a lesson, to not care about it but also to never forget about it. I'd like to open myself up more to new experiences and just step out of my comfort zone. With that in mind, I hope not to fall victim to any form of abuse. When you start to be nice to people, they might abuse you.
To end off this post, I'd like to thank you for taking your time off your day to read this and I would like to wish you all the best for your future, merry christmas and a happy new year! Let's hope 2014 would bring to you something extraordinary. God bless you.
